Working together for change

Our research team worked directly with citizens and local authorities in our six partner cities around Europe to support ongoing efforts to improve air quality. Each city faces different issues and causes of air pollution – there is no one-size-fits-all solution.

  • used existing data to drive our innovative public engagement activities
  • examined existing city-level data to build new models of urban air pollution and carbon emissions
  • used these new models and scenarios to make it easier for cities to identify changes that they can make for society to reduce emissions and make a positive change in peoples’ lives

ClairCity is funded through the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme under grant agreement No. 689289.

We aim to publish papers in the coming months. Stay tuned!

For each of our partner cities and regions, we are conducting a series of investigations and events which are reported as they progress:

  • a Policy Baseline Report describing contextual factors influencing air quality and greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Mutual Learning Workshops – opportunities for local stakeholder organisations in health, transport, air quality and energy to come together and discuss the challenges, opportunities and visions they see for their city or region;
  • a DELPHI process, collecting research data from residents on their thoughts on heating and transport in their region via two rounds of surveys and a workshop;
  • Stakeholder Dialogue Workshops at the end of the DELPHI process, bringing councils and local organisations together to interpret and comment on the DELPHI findings;
  • a City Day event, sharing our work and the results of the local video project.
